Clothing Exchange at NYU
Hello Ningers and Are You Sustainable perusers everywhere,
I'm writing to invite ideas, participation, and energy to partake in a project I'm working on this fall. I'm in the midst of starting a clothing swap and redesign center at NYU, geographically located in the "Green House" on 7th st between 2nd and 3rd avenue. With the help of local designers (and your help/talent!), this fall will kick-off the swap with a series of exchanges and reinvention workshops... the idea is that these workshops will give participants and volunteers the space and the tools they need to work with other students, designers, and artists in order to creatively question capitalism and consumerism, as well as providing the context for a rip roarin' good time. I can bring a lot of buttons and other hand-sewing supplies!
Maybe we could have a 'remnants exchange' for people who like to sew and don't know what to do with the extra fabric they have left over, that someone else might think is really cool. and we could sew little pouches and other things with it!
